I Tried THIS and My Eggplants Went CRAZY! Harvesting Buckets FULL! The second important step is fertilizing the plant after pruning. Pruning removes a lot of the plant's foliage, and to recover from this, the plant needs a good supply of nutrients, particularly nitrogen. Nitrogen is essential for the production of new leaves and stems. Without it, the plant might struggle to grow back its foliage, which is crucial for photosynthesis and overall health. For this, I recommend using a homemade organic fertilizer called weed tea. Weed tea is easy to make and provides a rich source of nutrients that your eggplants need. To make weed tea, start by collecting a variety of weeds from your garden. Weeds are often full of nutrients because they’re adapted to grow in tough conditions. Once you’ve collected the weeds, place them in a large container of water. Add some compost to the mixture to boost its nutrient content. Then, let the mixture sit for about two weeks. During this time, the weeds will break down and release their nutrients into the water, creating a rich liquid fertilizer. After two weeks, your weed tea is ready to use. However, it’s important to dilute the weed tea before applying it to your plants because it can be quite strong.
