The TAB Global 2023 Finance Awards, held on 14 December, recognised achievements and innovation in the financial services industry. The virtual ceremony featured three key categories: Business Achievement Awards, World's Strongest Islamic Banks and Global Strongest Banks, alongside the Wealth and Society Awards. OCBC Malaysia was awarded Best Private Bank in Malaysia for its strategic initiatives, robust financial performance, and strong product offerings. Its regional wealth platform drove significant fee growth and a substantial increase in assets under management, while its bespoke treasury solutions and forex margin facilities were cited for commitment to excellence. Jessie Lim, head of OCBC's premiere private client, said: "This recognition is a testament to the relentless commitment of our professionals who strive for service excellence. It reinforces our dedication to drive our platform with a focus on service, integrity, and innovation." Bank of China (Hong Kong) was recognised as the Second Strongest Bank in the World and the Strongest Bank in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific for distinction in risk profile, asset quality, and liquidity. It also achieved strong profitability through adept management of rising interest rates and proactive cost control. Winnie Fan, managing director of sustainable finance (corporate banking) at Bank of China (Hong Kong) said: "Bank of China (Hong Kong) will continue to focus on sustainable and high-quality development by strengthening our foundations for future growth, enhancing regional management, optimising service integration, and bolstering digital empowerment while creating value for our shareholders. " Absa South Africa was named Best Transaction Bank in Africa for demonstrating expertise in cash management, working capital, and trade finance. The bank strategically optimised cash management, particularly for a major ICT customer, ensuring real-time visibility and efficient onboarding. Qatar Islamic Bank stood out as the Best Retail Bank in Qatar, showcasing strong deposit and revenue growth, a state-of-the-art digital banking solution, and a customer-centric approach. Also recognised as the Best SME Bank in Qatar, it has a significant SME market share and is committed to sustainable financing. Other institutions recognised during the TAB Global 2023 Finance Awards were Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam as the Strongest Bank and the Strongest Islamic Bank in Brunei, Metrobank as the Strongest Bank in the Philippines, and Commercial Bank of Ceylon as the Strongest Bank in Sri Lanka. In the Business Achievement Awards category, Bank of China (Hong Kong) was awarded Best Transaction Bank and Best Cash Management Bank in Hong Kong. Stanbic IBTC Bank was recognised as the Best Cash Management Bank in Nigeria, while Absa Bank (Mauritius) was acknowledged as the Best Trade Finance Bank in Mauritius. SBM Bank (Mauritius) was recognised as the Best SME Bank in Mauritius, and Nedbank was named as the Best SME Bank in South Africa.
