Chinese President Xi Jinping, also the general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), vowed to unswervingly fight against corruption on Friday. Xi made the vow while delivering a speech at a ceremony to mark the 95th anniversary of the founding of the CPC in Beijing on Friday morning. The CPC general secretary calls for joint efforts to keep a clean, advanced Party and maintain the Party's governance capability. "We should not forget our initial determination of building an advanced, clean Party, striving to improve its governing, leading capability, enhancing its ability to withstand risks and fight against corruption, and constantly press ahead with the great project of Party building," Xi said. Since November 2012, when the new CPC leadership took office, anti-corruption has become one of the top priorities. President Xi Jinping has conducted a sweeping drive to fight corruption among both "tigers" - high-ranking officials, and "flies" - low-level officials. "The most serious threat to us, as the ruling party, is corruption. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, we have been fighting against 'tigers' and 'flies' simultaneously. And now we are making a landslide victory over corruption after a deterrent role has been played that officials dare not corrupt, are unable to be corrupted, and don't want to be corrupted. We vow to investigate any corrupt case and punish every corrupt official so that there is no hiding place for corrupt officials in the Party," Xi said.
