The Tropical Gene Pool Garden near Nadugani in Tamil Nadu’s Gudalur has always been a much sought after place for nature loving travellers as it is right in the heart of the charming Nilgiri mountains. Although it has mostly been one of those offbeat destinations, it is soon expected to become popular among all kinds of travellers as plans are under way in developing the place into an eco-tourism spot, with the forest department allowing the scope of activities like trekking and bicycling in the area. Apart from its vivid and unique flora, the region of the Gene Pool Garden is also known for having a diverse wildlife population, which includes tigers, elephants, deer and leopards. Besides, the place offers some of the stunning panoramic views of the rolling hills and grasslands surrounding the Gudalur region that can be easily enjoyed from the two vantage points that are available there. With the development of eco-tourism, the place is expected to become one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Nilgiris.
