Star Fox 64 Mission # 12 Macbeth

Macbeth 3-D Scroll Mode Medal Requirement: 150 Hits It's not very hard at all to gain enough hits for the medal on Macbeth. When you first begin, open fire on the train as much as possible. You can take out a good three or four sections of the train with ease, as long as your aim is good, for some nice hit bonuses. The rocks that the train will drop into your path can be destroyed for hits as well. Also, be sure to lock on to flying enemies as well, as you can usually get them in small groups in the air for quick hit+2 and hit+3 bonuses. Keep moving, making sure to use the Landmaster's hovering ability (hold Z and R) whenever necessary to get over ground obstacles and obtain airborne power-ups. As you near the checkpoint, there will be more areas of the train that you can destroy for easy hits, so make sure to concentrate fire on them. While you may need 150 hits for the medal, you need only have about 95 or so by the time you reach the checkpoint. There is an incredibly cool trick you can pull off that not only allows you to skip fighting the boss altogether, but also gives you an immense hit+50 bonus for doing it! Just after the checkpoint, you'll see a small post with a numbered flag on it. Shoot the flag, and it will change directions. There are eight flags like this (in numerical order) over the next stretch of land. Shoot them all (you have to do it in order), and the lighting fixture after the eighth flag will open up. Shoot the lever in the lighting fixture, and it will cause the boss train (which will be attacking you throughout all this, mind you) to switch tracks and go crashing back into his domain, destroying not only the train, but the home base as well. How's that for an easy 51 hits? Not bad at all! On the other hand, if you couldn't get it to work, you'll have to fight the boss. If you're short of 150 hits, but still somewhat within range, you can actually still rack up a lot of kills while fighting the boss. Unlike most boss encounters, with this one there will still be quite a few enemies that fly around that can be killed for hits, so be sure to look out for them!
