Exploring Peru: Nazca, Huacachina, Ballestas Islands & Lima Adventure

On this jam packed adventure we come down from the Andes to the southern Peruvian coast and explore its desert landscapes. We start with a flight over the famous Nazca lines, the largest Petroglyphs on earth. Followed by a stay in the desert oasis of Huacachina where we undertake a thrilling buggy trip and sandboarding on the dunes! We head to the Paracas coast where we visit the marine sanctuary of the Ballestas islands, abundant in sea birds and marine mammals, here we learn about the precious guano that lead to the outbreak of an international war. Finally we arrive to the Capital of Lima where we take a cycling tour through the trendy and stunning suburbs of Miraflores and Barranco, later exploring the historic city centre! After exploring the township we head up on a small plane to view the Nazca Lines from above, geological etchings in the desert floor of the world’s largest petroglyphs. Huacachina 6:15 Arriving at South America’s only desert oasis we explore this beautiful place and head up to the dunes via 4 wheel buggy. After a roller coaster ride on the sand we get out the sand boards for a real adrenaline boost. We return back to Huacachina after a spectacular sunset in the desert. Paracas/Ballestas Islands 15:12 From the coastal town of Paracas we head out to the nearby Ballestas Islands where we see an abundance of marine birds and mammals, including Boobies, Humboldt Penguins, guanay cormorants along with seals and sea lions. Along the way we visit the Candelabro and also learn about the Chinchas Islands war and the War of the Pacific which both started over the control of guano on these islands. Lima (Barranco & Miraflores) 25:48 Arriving in the capital of Peru we explore the upper class areas of Barranco and Miraflores by bike, including the beautiful parks along the Malecon.
