http://ukebert.wordpress.com A set of English reels (mostly) that I've arranged for the Cambridge University Ceilidh Band, in the optimistic hope that we can play something at least vaguely English. The first is "Hesleyside", which is a Northumbrian tune very popular in our sessions. The second is "Foul Weather Call" (which is actually an unswung hornpipe) which comes from Sussex. The third is where the "mostly" comes in, this is a Danish tune called "Pigen i Gult", composed by the (very good) Danish fiddler Henrik Jansberg. The last is "Skirmish" by Nick Barber, written for the White Rose Morris Men and the Oddington dance of that name. All these tunes work beautifully both on the box and together as a set. Recorded when I should be doing a lab report in my cherished and unbelievably comfortable red dressing gown. There are some scrappy mistakes in this recording and I found it very difficult for some reason to remember how many B parts I had played of the first tune...
