Me beating the Normal difficulty Boss Rush of Hero Core in 04:49, beating Daniel Remar's record of 04:51. This run has since been vastly surpassed by Plus's time of 03:59 ( • Видео ) Comments on bosses and how I did in this run: Silencer: This is hardly any different from the Hard version. Shoot it dead. However, I'm pretty sure this fight is actually slower than it is on Hard, probably because the boss moves around for a second or two longer. Plasma Hydra: The tactic is to have all three initial heads dead as fast as possible. So you try to shoot the one with the most health. In this run I get a random lucky expel that kills all three at the same time. In the second phase how you kill the heads doesn't really matter, you just need to be damaging something at all times. Reaper Drone: I'm still not sure what's the best tactic for this, but "Shoot, use small vertical movements to kill the last drones and dodge the shot" seems to work fine. I did just that in this run. Liquid Metal Processor: The same 11 blade 1-cycle strategy is of course used. It seems to be a lot easier to get the perfect vertical position on Normal than it is on Hard; maybe the boss gets to do less vertical movement, directly or indirectly. Rock Smasher: Firing in both directions works. The only part of any uncertainty is dodging the shots near the top. Grand Mother: Because the Mothers don't shoot on Normal, the first one can always be killed instantly. The second one can almost always be killed before the Grandma finishes its reaction to the first one's death, so there's no inefficiency. Fastest way to kill the Grandma is to fly right through it, especially as it guarantees the right vertical position. The Boltarays are annoying in this run. Guardian: ignoring the lesser enemies doesn't pay off, but I figured that it's best to ignore the Soldiers before the Hunters wake up. That way you only have to do one trip to the top of the room. In this run one of the soldiers ends getting ignored, since he was too far above me, and makes the last phase a bit more of a pain. The core first moves very unfortunately, then very fortunately. Star Splitter: the best strategy is to get up close and take down the cores. The blaster has better DPS, but the blade can help sometimes. The second phase is nothing but luck with the boss movement. I get quite beaten up, as often happens with this guy. Elite: I single-mindedly focus on killing the lower Elite, which makes me play a bit suboptimally at times, but it works alright in this run. Taking advantage of the Expel-induced stationariness is key. Why the lower Elite first? Because Expel starts with up, and if the Elite is close to the ceiling the movement can end up being asymmetrical. Eliminator: I hate this thing and its random evasive movements, but he ends up really cooperative this time. Tetron: first phase is shooting his head constantly, and hoping his movement isn't too bad. If he gets to fire the second set of spikeballs, that will waste a lot of time, but he dies comfortably this time. With point-blank mashing, the second phase can be killed before the 5 direction shot that makes him invincible for a while, and I accomplish that just barely. In the last phase sitting on top of his head and shooting is the fastest way. I fail and get hit by the shot explosion, which costs a couple seconds. Hero Core by Daniel Remar.
