On day one, you generally take turns felling a tree, while the rest of the class watches and critiques your work, so you learn from each other. This one was a forward-leaning tree, so I used a bore cut and a bit of retaining wood. Using a cut like this reduces the chance of the tree splitting and doing a 'barber chair'.
