The UP police arrested five men on Thursday for their alleged involvement in the murder of Ram Gopal Mishra, who was shot during violence in Bahraich during an idol immersion procession. Additional Director General of Police, Amitabh Yash, said, “Two of the arrested, Sarfaraz and Talim, sustained bullet injuries during an encounter.” The encounter occurred near Nanpara police station, and the weapon used in the murder was recovered. Superintendent of Police, Vrinda Shukla, added, "Our team worked to locate all the accused after Mishra was shot and killed during the Durga idol immersion procession on October 13." Meanwhile, the Congress has called the encounter as ‘fake’ and claimed that CM Yogi-led BJP Govt is using such encounters as a political tool and creating an atmosphere of ‘Gunda Raj’.
