The Dunedain -The Two Towers

The Rohan people are still walking around the lakes.  Gimli rides on a horse led by Eowyn  GIMLI:It's true, you don't see many Dwarf women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance......that they're often mistaken for Dwarf men.  Eowyn smiles and looks back at Aragorn, riding his horse  ARAGORN:It's the beards. (he gestures to an imaginary beard on his chin.  Eowyn grins and looks back to Gimli)  GIMLI:This, in turn, has given rise to the belief......that there are no Dwarf women......and that Dwarves just spring out of holes in the ground...  Eowyn laughs and Gimli laughs too  GIMLI:...which is, of course, ridiculous. (he throws his hands up and the horse suddenly gallops off, throwing Gimli to the ground)  Eowyn smiles, and then quickly runs to help him  GIMLI:It's all right. Nobody panic. That was deliberate. It was deliberate.  Aragorn and Theoden riding side by side grin widely.  Eowyn looks back at Aragorn laughing.  He laughs back, and his laugh turns into a smile.    THEODEN:I haven't seen my niece smile for a long time. She was a girl when they brought her father back dead. Cut down by Orcs. She watched her mother succumb to grief.  She looks dreamily at him smiling, the wind in her hair  THEODEN:Then she was left alone, to tend her king in growing fear. Doomed to wait upon an old man who should have loved her as a father. The Rohan people have stopped for a break.. Eowyn walks up to Gimli and Aragorn with a cooking pot and bowl in her hand  EOWYN:Gimli.?  GIMLI:No, I couldn't I really couldn't.  She walks past him to Aragorn who is cleaning his sword  EOWYN:I made some stew. It isn't much, but it's hot. (she fills a bowl and passes it to Aragorn)  ARAGORN:Thank you. (he tastes it and tries to hide a grimace.  Eowyn looks concerned) It's good.  EOWYN:Really? (she turns and starts to walk away.)  Aragorn quickly goes to pour the stew on the ground, but Eowyn turns back  EOWYN:My uncle told me a strange thing. He said that you rode to war with Thengel, my grandfather. But he must be mistaken.  ARAGORN:King Theoden has a good memory. He was only a small child at the time.  EOWYN:Then you must be at least 60.  Aragorn looks a bit embarrassed  EOWYN:Seventy? But you cannot be 80!  ARAGORN:(looking at the ground) Eighty-seven.  EOWYN:(realising) You are one of the Dunedain. A descendant of Numenor, blessed with long life. It was said that your race had passed into legend.  ARAGORN:There are few of us left. The Northern Kingdom was destroyed long ago.  EOWYN:I'm sorry. Please, eat. (he reluctantly continues his meal whilst she watches him)
