Escort Mission: Kuro 「𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐔𝐌」

In the exciting conclusion to the Escort Mission: Kuro storyline, the capped character expanded universe braves the depths of the Battle Museum! But what is the true danger: The powerful enemies that lurk within, or the dark secrets the group dares to uncover? Now with authentic Live2D cutscenes! For those of you not fully familiar with the format, Battle Museum is a time-gated mode that appears every long once-in-a-while, bringing 25 new stages each time. You can continue where you left off, and complete older stages if you haven't done them. Each set of 25 has its own difficulty curve, so stage 75 should be the same difficulty as stage 1, and stage 100 the same as stage 25. In practice, of course, not all sets are created equal. The boss of stage 25, for example, was vulnerable to perpetual bind-lock, but none of the other final bosses were. HP and MP (but not charge count) carry over between fights, and you can change your team setup each time. On the surface, this would appear to be a simple battle of attrition, but in reality it's so much more than that. The secret here is that you can preview the enemies in every fight from the beginning, and plan your strategy accordingly. It isn't about planning for the next fight, but about carefully pathing for all 25 fights before even starting the first one. We take advantage of less dangerous opponents to build MP, then bench those with full gauges to unleash their Magias during later fights when we really need them. Whenever you ever see us not casting a Magia that would end a fight early, this is why. Some fights would be virtually impossible if we came in unprepared: The Kushu in stage 87, for example, deals 200 MP damage to your entire team every other turn. If it took us more than two turns to deplete her 1.3 million HP, we would have been in serious trouble. You can see the full lineup on the wiki: https://magireco.fandom.com/wiki/Batt... With this flexible format, we were able to find uses for a lot of capped girls that would normally never make the cut, including Seika, Ranka, Moka, and Hotori. Sadly, Rion and Seira still didn't make the cut, and Sakuya can't be included for lore reasons (she likely would have ousted Moka if she could). Rika and Ayaka were both still capped at the time this video was recorded, so this is effectively their last hurrah in my capped character challenge runs. The footage for this video was originally recorded during the fourth Battle Museum run, in May of 2023. The video is now releasing almost five months later. While a large part of that can be put to my being busy with other things or procrastinating, I needed to learn how to make authentic Magia Record cutscenes to perfect this video, and creating those took no small amount of time. The total time spent working on this video, creating the cutscenes, refining the dialogue, splicing together the combat footage, watching and rewatching to spot errors, and more, was well over 100 hours. This is by far the most time and effort I've ever spent on a video, but I felt I had to make this as polished as I was able. Escort Mission: Kuro was not originally intended to have a storyline; I didn't even think we'd ever beat Stage III. Any story that emerged was initially just extra flavoring to complement the gameplay, but it slowly became so much more than that. Now, here I am, writing full-blown Magia Record fanfiction! I don't really see anywhere the story could go beyond this, however, at least not under the "Escort Mission: Kuro" name. That doesn't mean I'm ending the series completely, but any story in future installments will be much smaller compared to this. There is at least one more Escort Mission video in the works, and perhaps I'll make some with the newly released Mabayu, as well. Her skillset seems interesting, though there is no conceivable lore reason that she could be part of this team. Well, if I don't include story scenes, I won't have to invent one! To anyone still reading, thank you very much. None of my videos are monetized (though I notice Youtube sometimes puts ads on non-monetized content now), so I get paid entirely in the joy I bring to others. A view, a like, and if I am to be especially daring, a positive comment, means a lot to me, and I appreciate every one. Thank you so much for watching, and I'll see you whenever our paths meet again. 0:00 - Intro 0:57 - Prologue 5:14 - Battle Set 1 (75-81) 14:11 - Set 1 BOSS (82) 22:10 - Memories of Combat 24:33 - The Rumor of the Destiny Defier 26:03 - Battle Set 2 (83-87) 34:32 - Set 2 BOSS (88) 40:15 - Something, Everything is Wrong 42:54 - Battle Set 3 (89-93) 48:55 - Set 3 BOSS (94) 51:24 - The Missing Link 57:58 - Battle Set 4 (95-99) 1:07:45 - The Truth 1:10:42 - The Way Things Really Are 1:15:23 - Mortal Struggle 1:17:46 - The Last Gasp, and The First Shout 1:23:51 - FINAL BOSS (100) 1:28:06 - The Way Things REALLY Are 1:30:57 - Team Setups and Usage Stats 1:36:45 - Epilogue
