Storm Ashley set to arrive with up to 80mph winds across the UK

The first major storm of the season has been named, with Ashley set to hit Scotland this weekend. People across Scotland have been warned to brace for the impact of Storm Ashley, with Amber and Yellow weather warnings in place for parts of the country on Sunday. The Yellow warning will apply to the whole of Scotland, while the Amber warnings are specifically for sections of the west coast. Named by the Irish met service Met Éireann, the storm is set to bring strong winds and rain to Scotland, Ireland, the northwest of England, and Wales. The Met Office has warned that the "deep area of low pressure" could bring widespread disruption on Sunday and early Monday.
