U.S. President Joe Biden welcomed the University of Connecticut men's basketball team to the White House on Tuesday (September 10) to congratulate them on their 2023-24 championship season. "For the first time in 17 years, there's a back-to-back men's college basketball champion, the UConn Huskies," Biden said near the start of his remarks. The president also joked that he made, "a lot of money," after successfully picking both UConn and the University of South Carolina women's team to win titles. "I should note, I picked you guys on my ticket. And this morning, I picked the mayor's South Carolina girls. I made a lot of money. That's a joke. Press, that is a joke," Biden quipped. UConn coach Dan Hurley thanked the president and said returning to the White House was part of his team's plan to "make this thing an annual visit for us."
