Minor Illusion is RIDICULOUS: How To Use DnD Spells #10

Minor Illusion is one of the most ridiculous cantrips in DnD 5e. I cover a few of my favorite ways to use this spell in a Dungeons and Dragons game. For more on how the spell works and how to use it in-game, check out my full guide at www.dndlounge.com/minor-illusion-5e/ Some comments have pointed out that many of these uses are more DM- or situation-dependent than I made clear – all totally valid. Here’s my attempt to clarify: -Bolstering Ability Checks: Sleight of Hand (Palming an item while making a Minor Illusion of the thing) - This requires either Subtle Spell or for a spellcaster to use Minor Illusion while their ally performs the Sleight of Hand check (ideally as a readied action and out of sight of the person you’re trying to rob). -Bolstering Ability Checks: Persuasion (Make an illusory document or seal) - This use is not really feasible. If the person wants to read the document or examine the royal seal, the illusion won’t move or be touchable. Only really usable if the reader doesn’t need to handle the document at all, and you can de-summon it without anyone noticing. -Bolstering Ability Checks: Performance (Make fake blood to look injured) - You cannot move with this use, because the illusory blood stain is static and will not move with you. However, this is still workable if you’re playing dead/critically injured to the point of immobility. -Other. For any use I mentioned where an onlooker watching you cast a spell would ruin the effect of the illusion (i.e., making a fake MacGuffin while the BBEG clearly watched you cast a spell to make it), you’ll need to cast Minor Illusion out of sight of the onlooker you’re trying to dupe or use Subtle Spell. I think that covers the big issues, but let me know if I missed anything. Thanks for the help, everyone! 0:17 How to Use Minor Illusion 4:00 Minor Illusion Rules 5:29 Is Minor Illusion Good?
