The River Shuttle rises on Avery Hill and flows through Sidcup and Bexley for approximately 5-and-a-half miles before making its confluence with the River Cray beside the A2 Rochester Way near the Holiday Inn. Along the way it flows through Parish Wood, Holloak Wood Park, Willersley Park, and Bexley Woods. The Shuttle Riverway Path is a walking trail that follows the course of the river. Our walk begins near the entrance to the Charlton Athletic Training Ground on the edge of Avery Hill Park.
