How to spend A DAY in BODEGA BAY. Visiting Spud Point Crab Co., Shell Beach, and Fishetarian

Wifeburger's birthday trip to Bodega Bay started with award winning, world famous clam chowder from Spud Point Crab Company. We ordered one white and one red and a loaf of bread and enjoyed them by the harbor. It was a yummy and warm way to start our day trip in Bodega Bay and a delicious way to fuel our adventures! Next we headed to Shell Beach where we explored a little bit of the Kortum Trail before heading down the staircase to the beach. It looked like a magical portal to the coast! We always like to explore the areas away from where the crowds are to find a little piece of nature that we can enjoy on our own. So, once through the portal, we headed to the right at the bottom of the stairs. Luckily the tide was out enough and we didn't have to climb over the wall, but that's always an option and doable for those without mobility challenges. The sand on Shell Beach is really coarse and kind of hurts the feet, so we'd recommend water shoes, we'll be bringing them for future adventures to this area. We spent the whole afternoon on Shell Beach, watching how it changed when the sun peeked out, colors bursting; blue and green. Snails, crabs, and purple and orange starfish were revealed as the tide fell. Around 5:30pm, when the fog began to roll in, we decided we were ready to start the trip back through the portal and up to the parking lot. We headed to Fishetarian for two fish and chips dinners before we hit the road home. It was a fabulous day and an unforgettable birthday celebration!
