It was on October 12, 1984, that tragedy struck the set of his television series 'Cover Up' when Jon-Erik accidentally shot himself with a blank round. Rushed to Beverly Hills Medical Center, surgeons worked diligently to save his life, but little could be done. Jon was one of Hollywood's fastest-rising stars, initially gaining attention by starring in the short-lived television series 'Voyagers!' from 1982 to 1983. His career gained momentum when he co-starred with the popular actress Joan Collins in the 1983 television movie 'The Making of a Male Model.'
