Lost Shore Surf Resort | Wetsuit Testing | Thrive to Surf-Vibe

Lost Shore Surf Resort is Europe's largest and world's first inland surf resort, just outside Edinburgh, Scotland. As a surf destination which requires a fleet of around 700 wetsuits, we felt it was important to go that extra mile when it came to selecting a wetsuit provider, a key element to keeping out users warm in our crystal clear Scottish waters. So, we created a process, designed to ignore opinion and industry hearsay to establish what rental wetsuit actually delivered to fit our specific requirements. With the support of Surf Lab, a collaboration between Lost Shore & Edinburgh Napier University, we tested the capabilities of each brand that made it to the final part of our tender process in a controlled scientific environment. After a thorough testing process it was found that Gul’s wetsuit, which happened to be made from YULEX, which is made from rubber plants, performed the best. Yulex material emits 80% less carbon emissions and is more environmentally friendly compared to more traditional wetsuits like neoprene, which is made from petrochemicals, or geoprene, which is made from mined limestone. Made with the highest grade of Yulex and made by British wetsuit firm, Gul, the suits will be 4/5mm thick and have an anti-abrasion, hydrophobic, super stretch recycled nylon laminate, ensuring increased durability. Testing of the wetsuits was carried out by Surf Lab, a unique collaboration between Lost Shore Surf Resort and Edinburgh Napier University that aims to undertake ground-breaking surfing research in Scotland. To test for warmth, a test subject was immersed in cold water wearing different wetsuits, with temperatures taken from different areas of the body before, during and after being in the water. Lost Shore has purchased 700 wetsuits to fit people of all shapes and sizes who come to try surfing, making it the largest plant based wetsuit fleet in the world. Wetsuit and surfboard hire, as well as tuition for those who need it, will all be included in the price for visitors to Lost Shore. @gulwater Lost Shore Surf Resort - https://www.lostshore.com GUL Watersports - https://www.gul.com YULEX - https://www.yulex.com
