In my opinion Midgets and Sprites should be a lot more popular than they are. These little moderately priced classics are an absolute joy to drive. Those that criticise them and make them the butt of a joke are very unlikely to have ever driven one. Chance made me buy mine back in January 1981, it's been rebuilt a couple of times. It's basically a standard Mk1 Midget, with the original Engine an 1098cc A series, an engine with the smaller crank bearing and less well aspirated smaller bore exhaust and manifold as fitted at the time. She's always flown along and accelerates nicely. I change the oil possibly more often than most, but the engine has lasted well and been driven hard. Being a latter make one it has disc brakes on the front. if you get the chance go for a drive in one, you're pretty much guaranteed to smile.
