Be a good role model and communicate your own flexibility when things aren’t going your way by compromising. Help others become leaders too. Parents, Caregivers and Teachers 💌 💜Set appropriate boundaries and when crossed ALWAYS FOLLOW THROUGH WITH APPROPRIATE CONSEQUENCES. Kids must learn that inappropriate actions have consequences or they will do whatever they want when they want 💜Always praise children when they are polite and kind to others. Being kind and assertive. These traits are NOT mutually exclusive therefore as caregiver you may demonstrate it in your one actions. 💜Teach kids the POWER of FLEXIBILITY. You get what you get and you don’t get upset. You will get through it. You aren’t always going to get what you want. 💜Use a private signal system (rubbing your nose, pulling your ear) when your child is behaving bossy. Allow the child to self connect. Self awareness is key. 💜When you hear a child being bossy. Help them to rephrase. Hold a mirror to the child’s face to repeat their bossy comments. Then ask, ‘Would you like it if somebody spoke that way to you? Let’s see if we can figure out a nicer, less aggressive way to communicate. 💜When power struggles arise offer choices with LIMITS. Are you going to brush your teeth before your story or after your story? 💜Whether parent, caregiver, teacher, your are the boas.
