The lyrics paint a beautiful but mysterious picture while telling a vague story that can be interpreted many ways. Somehow in that darkness but also in the chords and melody I find something really powerful and deeply moving. The Jimi Hendrix cover is obviously an essential and important part of the song's history as well. Probably the best cover of any song, ever.
