How to Set-Up & Configure PT/CT Ratios on a Power Meter | Accuenergy Acuvim II

In this video, we demonstrate how to configure PT and CT ratios using an Accuenergy Acuvim II Power Meter with our SolarVu energy portal. http://www.cachelan.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: INTRODUCTION In this video, I will be demonstrating how to configure PT and CT ratios using an AccuEnergy Accuvim II Power Meter with our SolarVu energy portal. Other meters have similar setup steps. So the first question is: why does a meter need CTs and PTs? Meters need to see the voltage and current from the grid so that the meter can calculate power and energy. However, for example, if you directly connect 1000 volts with 500 Amps to the meter, it will burn out the meter. As a result, the voltage and current must be stepped down before feed in to the meter. The devices for that are called Potential Transformers (PT) and Current transformers (CT). As a result, the meter will see the reduced version of voltage and current. In order for the meter to report the actual values, installers are required to setup the PT and CT ratio in the meter. Where do users get the CT ratio and PT ratio? The ratio which CTs and PTs use to step down the signals are called CT or PT ratios, which are labelled on the actual physical CT or PT device. For example, if a CT has ratio 300:5, it means when the CT sees 300A current from the grid, it will output 5A to the meter. PTs work the same way. In the following session, we will show you how to setup the CT and PT ratio using 300:5A CT and 600:120V PT. DEMONSTRATION To enter the setting mode, press H and VA at the same time Once you do, the meter light should be flashing To move to the setting you have to press P until it gets to Setting Press VA to enter into the setting The default Password is 0000 Press Enter once the password has been entered You will need to go into the system, press Enter which is VA Press the P button 5 times to go to the setting point S06 which is where we will configure our first PT If your PT ratio is 360 to 120, then set PT1 to 0000360.0 If there is no physical PT present in the system, set PT1 to 0000400.0 To configure your PT, press VA to enter into the setting Use H to shift the cursor to desired digit and use P and E, P to increase and E to decrease to the desired value When finished, press VA to exit the session To configure the secondary PT, press P to move to S07 To go into the setting, press VA or Enter, and using H to shift to the desired digit and P to increase or E to decrease When Finished, press enter to exit the session Now moving on to the CT Ratio From S07, you will press P to go to S08 - This is our CT1 Press VA to enter into the session, use H to shift the cursor to desired digit and use P and E, P to increase and E to decrease to the desired value When finished, press VA to exit the session You will now set up your second CT ratio To go to the second CT ratio, go to S09 S09 is now CT2 Press VA to enter into the session, and use P and E, P to increase and E to decrease to the desired value When finished, press VA to exit the session And you are done!
