RYLA Q&A 2o22- Kiersten Kral

Thank you for the amazing questions, and thank you for being such a kind audience and listening with open hearts! —— Speech link:    • Creating Joy Through A Brain Injury- ...   ————————————— 00:25- What was the biggest sensory challenge, that took the most effort to recover from and that you’re still struggling with? 03:04- You seem to be a really talented writer, did that happen after the injury, or were you always a writer? 04:14- With this injury, who would you say would be your greatest inspiration, and why? What’s kept you motivated? 05:26- In your video, you mentioned that for concussion, it’s not right to stay in a dark room for awhile- what is the right thing to do? 07:53- In the video that you showed, you showed a lot of videos documenting your recovery and how you were dealing with, and a lot of it was very positive which is very inspiring- how did you find the motivation to get up and log how you were feeling, take a video, take a walk, and things like that? 10:02- So you talked about being isolated, how you lost friendships and stuff- were you able to regain any of them? And are they as strong as they were before? 12:52- How long did it take you to get back to “normal stuff?” like talking to your friends, and do that stuff again? 14:28- Is there anything you took for granted, that you regret not doing? (before your injury) 17:06- So i know it’s really hard to be out of school for like a few months, what was it like not being able to, and knowing you won’t be able to go back to your track team for forever? 20:58- In moments where you felt like nobody really did understand, it it felt like the world was out to get you, you seem like you’re going about in a positive manner- how’d did you sorta like avoid being so pessimistic and negative against the world? 24:53- So how did you find out about RYLA? Did you go here, or did you share your story then come here? 26:54- So you’re just speaking on how you can tell your story- what’s your overall goal with sharing your story with all of RYLA rotary, and just in general with everything you share? 29:14- Is there a person that you met, or like an experience that you’ve gone through that positively impacted your life, that you think wouldn’t have happened had you not sustained the injury? 32:02- You said in your video, you can only read for 30s and stuff, how did that affect your writing too? 33:29- So you talked about, not being able to go to college- is that something you’d like to do in the future, if you had the ability to do it? 35:45- You talked about how different you view the world now, how would you say you see the world now versus how you used to see it? 39:13- I have a two part question: Would you say you have to give up hope on ever being able to run again? 41:23- The second part of my question is, I know in the beginning you were talking about out the best part of hope is that it’s independent from statistics- so how do you distinguish between moments where you need to give up hope or you shouldn’t. 44:07- What’s like the hardest part of your everyday life after your injury? 46:23- What’s a goal that you set for yourself after your injury, that you achieved and felt like “Wow like I got this”… 49:57- Do you ever feel upset, because you can’t do something? Because I was attacked by a neuro-virus at a young age and have paralysis on my right arm, so i can’t lift it. And i kinda feel upset at the things that I can’t do, so I’m curious on how you felt? 52:54- So obviously in the past 2 years, the pandemic has brought on a lot of lifestyle changes for all of us, but at that point you were about 3 years into recovery after your incident- so how has that impacted your journey so far, positively or negatively? 55:06- I have a question on how you take care of your pet, because i thought isnt that over stimulating sometimes because they make noise in the cage and stuff? 57:12- Closing words/song ______________________________________ Find me on my...
