Welcome back to the channel everyone! Today we are traversing the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles! Located at 2800 E Observatory Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90027 in the hills of Hollywood and about .1 miles from the Hollywood sign, overlooking all of LA and then some. Perched on the South facing slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park. Open 12pm-10pm Tuesday-Friday and 10am-10pm Sat n Sun. There is a parking lot at the top of the hill but it can get packed quite quickly so we parked a little further down the hill and had our selves a nice little walk up. We saw parking meters along the way up but we didn’t end up having to pay as the machines were not working. The parking lot and entrance are both wheelchair accessible. It is an art deco landmark from 1935 featuring a high-tech planetarium, public telescopes and city views and has hosted over 85 million visitors since its debut. It is a 67000 sq/ft building and postured as the most visited public observatory in the world (around 1.1 mil/yr). Founded by Griffith J Griffith, a Welsh born American industrialist and philanthropist, after amassing a fortune from mining endeavors donated 3000 acres to the city of LA that became Griffith Park and houses the Griffith Observatory and Greek Theatre. One thing to note about Griffith is that his legacy was dampened after the shooting of his wife in 1903. This facility serves as a great all day activity for the little ones to learn a breadth of physics and astronomy knowledge as well as evening views of the beautiful night sky. It is completely free to the public and has been since the grand opening in 1935 and includes short films and presentations throughout the day/evening. Griffith Observatory was an absolute treasure and quite the inspiration. I highly recommend checking out if you're ever in the LA area or live in the LA area n haven't yet visited! Thank you for tuning in y'all and stay tuned for the next adventure! With love and gratitude, Mish #losangeles #griffithobservatory #observatory #vlog #travelvlog #travel #travelvlogger
