Argentina's Ballester-Molina - A Pistol Made From A Battleship?

In this followup video, we now look at the Argentinian Army's Ballester-Molina .45 ACP caliber pistol. Between 1938 and 1953, nearly 113,000 of these handguns were manufactured by Hispano Argentino Fabrica de Automoviles SA or just HAFDASA for short. The Ballester-Molina was heavily influenced by the Colt M1911 and M1911A1; but made cheaper, easier, and simpler to build. Also, it borrowed from the Spanish StarModel A (or B), which itself was a Browning clone too. In this video, we look into this pistol's history, military service, and at a very interesting rumor. For decades, it has been said that the Ballester-Molina was built using steel salvaged from the Nazi-German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee. So does this story hold water? Tune in to find out! Featured firearms include an original military Ballester-Molina, F.M.A.P. Systema M1927, and Star Modello B Super. Interested in becoming a Patreon contributor?
