Baba Khan is one of Canada's most celebrated club DJs and he has built a massive following that only a few have come close to matching. He is also one third of the trio, Culture Shock. The other two members are Lomaticc a solo artist, producer and songwriter, whose blown the music industry with his original breathtaking talent, and Sunny Brown, the Punjabi flare which bridges the gap between east and west. The group released their first album in 2008; a perfectly well concoct fusion of Desi remixes of western club hits that featured two ground-breaking world-wide original hit singles, the monster track "Tonight" featuring Kardinal Offishall and Fatman Scoop, and the electronic smash "Shiva." What followed was a carefully crafted marketing strategy to launch not only the Culture Shock brand but Sunny Brown and Lomaticc as artists. Culture Shock signed on with Universal U.K. and penned one of the most lucrative independent artists signings in Canadian Asian /non-Asian history. They have produced remixes for artists like Priyanka Chopra and Mika Singh, in addition to hosting their own tour in their hometown, Toronto. The trio is working on their third album right now, which is set to release in 2014. I chatted with the dynamic trio about how three very different talents came together and created one sound and how they marketed their music independently to become one of today's most sought after fusion bands in the world...they also revealed some great upcoming plans for 2014. ENJOY!
