John Martin chats to OfficialCharts.com about how he co-wrote Swedish House Mafia's first and only UK Number 1 hit, Don't You Worry Child. John Martin co-wrote the track with song writing partner Michel Zitron. The track, which features John's vocals, went on to reach Number 1 on the UK's Official Singles Chart in in October 2012, and became the superstar DJs' first and only UK chart-topper before they disbanded. "It felt good to go to Number 1 with Don't You Worry Child because it's a song that means a lot to me," John told OfficialCharts.com. "We [John and Michel Zitron] wrote it in 2010; it was our little baby and now it's grown up to be a little kid!" The pair wrote the track, which has gone on to become a favourite audition song for X Factor contestants, as a tribute to their fathers. "We sat down in Michel's studio on a Sunday, we were kind of hungover actually," explained John. "We had this thing, we were getting to know each other around that time and we had this discussion about our relationship with our Dads. We started to play around with a loop, then this melody came out quickly and we did it in one day." John and Michel met Swedish House Mafia's Sebastian Ingrosso in Stockholm in December 2010. The pair played him a selection of songs, but Don't You Worry Child was the track which stood out the most. "Me and Michel invited him to our room and we played him a couple of songs - Don't You Worry Child was one of the songs - he really liked that one. He asked us to write a melody for another song that became Save The World, that's how it started. Then we decided we should do Don't You Worry Child together with Swedish House Mafia." "There was something about that song," he added. "I had a good feeling in my stomach, I wanted to hear it all the time," he adds. "Our friends were calling us saying 'Hey, can you send me that song?', so we knew there was something special with the song, but we had no idea that it would be as big as it became."
