The Scottish Highlands are renowned for their rugged beauty and remoteness. As the most mountainous part of the United Kingdom, it is a popular escape during the summer. After biking the Outer Hebrides, we cycled part of the North Coast 500 scenic route and turned south at Tongue, where we were met with ferocious headwinds. We continued through Cairngorms National Park, Edinburgh, and the Scottish Borders region to make our way to England. Scotland challenged us in many ways, from the worst weather we've had on our whole trip to steep climbs and clouds of midges.
