Day 01 (115Km / 1750mA) Donoratico to Volterra / Tag 01 (115Km / 1750Hm) Donoratico bis Volterra Die 10te Auflage verzeichnete mit 4800 Bikern einen Teilnehmerrekord, was nicht verwunderlich ist bei diesem tollen Event. Dieses Jahr war es ein Rundkurs (470Km, 6900Hm) mit Start und Ziel in DONORATICO (CASTANELLO CARDUCI). Der Tuscany Trail ist kein Rennen, man sollte sich Zeit nehmen, um die traumhaften Landschaften und die reizvollen Orte, die man passiert, genießen zu können. Ohne Anstrengung, auch mit guter Kondition, lassen sich die 470Km mit 6900Hm natürlich nicht bewältigen. Das gehört auch irgendwie dazu und man sah es den Teilnehmern an, die immer ein Strahlen im Gesicht hatten. Ciao, buon giorno, hello… immer gab es ein nettes Wort. Die Tour lässt sich gut mit einem Gravel- oder Mountain-Bike fahren, wobei man mit dem MTB etwas komfortabler unterwegs ist. Schon wegen der langen Anfahrt habe ich die Tour mit einem Familienurlaub verbunden. Unser Ferienquartier in Sassetta lag direkt an der Strecke und nur ca. 15Km vom Ziel in DONORATICO entfernt. Wenn man nach einem letzten schweren Anstieg der Tour in Sassetta angekommen ist, dann ist das Glücksgefühl unbeschreiblich. Danach folgt nur noch die „Kür“, die ich mir für den nächsten Morgen aufgehoben habe. The tour can be done well with a gravel or mountain bike, although the MTB is a bit more comfortable. Already because of the long journey I have connected the tour with a family vacation. Our vacation accommodation in Sassetta was located directly on the route and only about 15Km from the destination in DONORATICO. When you arrive in Sassetta after a last difficult climb of the tour, the feeling of happiness is indescribable. After that, only the "freestyle" follows, which I have saved for the next morning.
