What to Expect in the Final Stages of Chronic Kidney Disease? 13 Signs and Symptoms of Dying

What to Expect in the Final Stages of Chronic Kidney Disease? 13 Signs and Symptoms of Dying #hospice Kidney Failure can be due to either the progression of chronic kidney disease to the most severe stage, stage 5 (also known as End Stage Renal Disease), or due to n acute kidney injury. In both cases the kidneys are not functioning and would need either dialysis or a kidney transplant for survival. Chronic Kidney Disease or CKD is a long term problem causing slow and progressive damage to the kidneys and the kidney's ability to function. There is no cure to chronic kidney disease and the damage to the kidneys will continue to get worse in time. Saying that, lifestyle changes and other treatments can slow the progression of the disease. Some people will reach the final stages of chronic kidney disease, and it is at this time that a person may consider their end of life goals and quality of life. Acute Kidney Injury or AKI is a sudden problem affecting kidney function. While acute kidney injury is reversible damage, if it is severe, the person may require dialysis or consider end of life care and support. End Stage Kidney Disease or Kidney Failure can cause a number of symptoms at the end of life that may be different from someone with other diseases. In this video, we will talk about what to expect when someone is dying of kidney failure and the symptoms to expect at the end of life. It's important to note that every person is different, and therefore the severity of the symptoms described in this video may vary from person to person. Not every person will experience all of the symptoms discussed here, but if a person has end stage kidney failure, they will likely experience many of them. I hope this video will be a resource for you and provide you with education to start to prepare for the dying process and terminal kidney failure.
