You’ll make a few sacrifices for its relatively low starting price, as the UX is small compared to some of its competitors and doesn’t have quite the same visual presence as Lexus’ larger SUVs. But if you think of it as more of a premium hatchback, the UX offers a lot of upscale features and polish for the money, and it’s one of the only models in its class that comes with a hybrid powertrain. That means it offers great fuel economy, and an upgrade for the 2025 model year means it’s more powerful than before, too. All-wheel drive is optional, and there’s also an available handling package with suspension upgrades to accompany the optional F Sport package’s aggressive-looking visual tweaks inside and out. What's New for 2025? The new UX300h replaces the previous UX250h, and the bigger number on the badge means it has a more powerful hybrid setup under the hood. Horsepower goes up from 181 hp to 196 hp thanks to more powerful electric motors, and there’s a new lithium-ion battery pack as well. Other updates include a larger available digital gauge cluster screen, enhancements to the driver-assistance features, and a newly available color called Copper Crest. Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2025 Lexus UX starts at $37,490 and goes up to $45,955 depending on the trim and options. We like the F Sport Handling model because it comes with better front seats, a sportier exterior appearance, and adaptive dampers that improve ride quality and cornering performance. It’s also fully loaded with the UX’s best tech offerings, including a larger touchscreen infotainment system. Engine, Transmission, and Performance The UX300h is available only as a hybrid, and its powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine and two electric motors that combine for 196 horsepower. While we haven’t yet tested the UX300h, we expect it to it provide quicker acceleration than the previous UX250h, which was sluggish. If you opt for all-wheel drive, there’s an additional electric motor that powers the rear wheels, and a continuously variable automatic transmission is standard across the board. The UX is nimble and maneuverable thanks to its small size, and it provides a surprisingly plush and quiet ride. The adaptive dampers available on the F Sport Handling model are a nice add-on, offering a range of adjustments to either soften or firm up the suspension depending on what kind of driving you’re doing. 0–60 MPH Times When we tested the UX250h back in 2019, it needed a rather slothful 8.6 seconds to reach 60 mph. With a little more power, we suspect the UX300h will deliver a quicker time and feel perkier around town. Read More: https://www.caranddriver.com/lexus/ux
