The Florida-Friendly Landscaping Professional Landscape Series provides free, science-based information on topics of interest to green industry professionals, landscape architects, and community association managers. This session covers coastal habitats and their functions, the need for living shorelines, and real-life examples of the protective role these shorelines have. Dr. Savanna Barry presents "Bolstering Coastal Buffers using Living Shorelines." She is a Regional Specialized Extension Agent based in Cedar Key, FL at the UF/IFAS Nature Coast Biological Station. Dr. Barry develops and implements programs that promote the sustainable use of natural resources across Florida's Gulf Coast.
