The panel that included former chairmen and senior counsel at the CFTC and SEC engaged in a rigorous debate around different approaches to stablecoin regulatory legislation, the risks and opportunities of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and how to distinguish between the jurisdictions between the two key U.S. regulatory agencies: the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Jay Clayton served as the Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from May 2017 to December 2020. J. Christopher Giancarlo served as the thirteenth Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
