The custom of Chau cover making began in Charida around 150 years back during the standard of King Madan Mohan Singh Deo of Baghmundi. The Chau Mask has gotten the Geographical Indication (GI) tag . The dynamic, bright and expand covers pass on the energetic expectation of the work of art that depicts creatures or characters from the sagas. One can encounter the monotonous assignment of making the detailed covers without any preparation legitimately from the craftsmen. A Rural Craft Hub has been created at Charida by Government of West Bengal's Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles, in relationship with UNESCO.
