gaff. 60, sprung alu plate, KTT Strawberry switches (typing sounds)

Keyboard: gaff. 60 (gaffworks) PCB: Plain60-C derivative (with 7305 Mill-Max sockets) Plate: Sprung aluminium (blue) Switches: KTT Strawberry Springs: Sprit 68g slow Lube: 203g0 mix on the leaf and top housing, springs donut-dipped with Super Lube 21030 Stabilizers: Durock v2 (205g0 on the housings and XHT-BDZ on the wires) Keycaps: GMK Bingsu with text mods Other mods: thin tape applied on plate cuts Setup: Mic: Rode NT1-A Audio interface: Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3 Boom arm attached to the left side of the desk. Mic approx. 25cm above the deskmat (3mm faux leather + 4mm rubber cloth), positioned around 10cm away from the top-left side of the keyboard (just out of frame). Mic front angled so it faces the center of the keyboard. Audio interface gain set to between 2 and 3 o’clock (sorry it’s analog), gain increased by 10dB in Premiere, usually landing between -18 to -6dB in the final output. TL;DR: Enjoy this as you would ASMR. The audio you're hearing isn't representative of what the keyboard will sound like in your setup, in real life. --- My rambling: gaff. 60 is a seamless keyboard that was only offered in HHKB. Its subtle exterior with clean lines and an internal weight is exactly my type. And speaking of type, the engraving on the butt with (what I think is) Le Monde Livre is super classy! I think the board sounds great with a full plate. I put a thin layer of tape on the cuts of the sprung plate which cleaned up some of the resonance. Regardless, there’s a certain “body” to the sound, which I really like. But more than sound, I’m all about feel. As I said in my previous videos, I’m not a fan of metal plates. While typing on the sprung plate isn’t as harsh as typing on say, a brass plate, it’s still metal after all. The cuts near the mounting points offer some relief and vibration transfer across the plate. I think it works really well, and it’s a stable typing experience. The long pole switches here makes the feel harsher though. On the other hand, I tried the build with Boba U4 (silent tactiles) and it feels amazing. gaffworks have thankfully made the plate files public, so I got a plate cut in PP (which is probably my favorite plate material right now), which feels pretty good! But I'm still working out some kinks with it... I’ll be making a video on that eventually! As for KTT Strawberry, I think they’re my favorite switches right now. Pole bottom out and full travel? Yes! And the stem wobble – they make even Bobas feel wobbly, which is a great feat. The stock 62g springs feel good, but are just too light for my taste. And did I say they were cheap? I’m sad at my stupid self for only getting one pack when it ran, but I’m on the lookout for some derivatives on the horizon, such as Pines! --- While you’re in here, please also check out my wife’s cooking channel:    / @cooking_and_cat   Thank you! #60percent #hhkb #mechanical #keyboard #自作 #キーボード #自キ #打鍵音 #音フェチ #asmr #colemak
