Trail Mountain | Arapeen ATV Trail, Utah

Ride difficulty: Beginner Friendly Trail Mountain is one of the most scenic ATV trails I've experienced. To get here you turn off of SR51, also known as Fairview Canyon, just south of Huntington Reservoir. You'll head west through a Forest Service campground until you come to a crossroads with Forest Service Road 14, and you'll want to turn south (left) here. This becomes Miller Flat Road and you'll head south past Miller Flat Reservoir. You'll also notice along here that there are lots of places for free dry camping. After about 11 miles you'll come to the turn off for Potter's Pond, where there is a Forest Service Campground, as well as one at Indian Creek, but you'll want to keep heading south on FS14 a couple of more miles where you'll then come to the turn off for Indian Creek and Trail Mountain. Take a left here and then 1/2 mile later you'll come to another crossroad where you'll turn right for Trail Mountain on FS40. Then after several more miles you'll come to another intersection for your last turn off to the right for Trail Mountain. Be aware that the trail is a dead end, ending at Mud Springs. Also be aware that the area is open range, so be on the lookout for livestock on the trail. We did encounter a few cows on this trip. You may want to bring a jacket with you as it can get very cool at times. The last time I was there was in late July and it was threatening rain and we did get some sprinkles. The trip can take several hours, depending on where you start from, so you may want to take a lunch with you as well.
