It is the company's first attempt in the subcompact crossover segment and their fourth attempt in the SUV market after the Gypsy, Grand Vitara and SX4 S-Cross. The Brezza is the first Suzuki-branded car which was fully designed in India. It is based on the Maruti XA Alpha, a concept car first unveiled in 2012. On Feb 24, 2020 Maruti Suzuki India Limited launched the facelift Vitara Brezza, equipped with the powerful 1.5 Litre K-series BS6 petrol engine.
