Season 7 : Episode #165 : Bound for the Northern Channel Islands Hello Friends, On this weeks episode we depart for a 10 day trip to explore the Northern Channel Islands; San Miguel, Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz & Anacapa. These Islands are wild and lack facilities of any kind and the winds blowing down from Point Conception can make San Miguel and Santa Rosa very dangerous at times. We had delayed our departure by 3 days due to high winds and after I felt the seas had had time to calm down after the blow we departed on a flat ocean with no wind to speak of, which was great because we were heading into the prevailing winds and currents. We had a easy passage of 97 nautical miles in 19 hours of motor sailing. Only at the end did the winds increase and force us to duck into Morse Point on Santa Cruz Island.
