2025 Volkswagen Jetta GLI: The Sport Sedan That Outpaces Expectations!

The 2025 GLI has a more contemporary appearance, despite retaining the same mechanical components as the previous model year. It features a redesigned front bumper, updated headlights, and a modified grille that give this sporty compact sedan a more aggressive look. Similarly, the rear has been refreshed with a new full-width light bar that connects the taillights across the trunk. Under the hood, the GLI is equipped with a 228-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 258 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a standard six-speed manual transmission, while a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is available as an option. The acceleration is significantly faster than that of the standard Jetta, which has a 158-hp engine. The manual transmission offers a satisfying driving experience, although the automatic can be sluggish when downshifting during spirited driving. The GLI boasts responsive steering, robust brakes, and a smooth ride thanks to its adaptive dampers; however, it would benefit from summer tires for improved cornering performance. Although the GLI shares the same fundamental design and ample passenger space as the standard Jetta, it features some red accents that enhance the interior. We do wish that some of the materials used by Volkswagen in the cabin were of a higher quality. Nonetheless, the GLI is equipped with premium standard features, including a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster, customizable ambient lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. This sporty version of the Jetta is also quite practical. The 2025 GLI is available in a single, fully loaded trim known as Autobahn. It comes generously equipped with features such as adaptive dampers, a digital gauge cluster, leather upholstery, a powerful audio system, and wireless charging. Buyers can select either a manual or automatic transmission, with the latter option available at an additional cost. The starting price for the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta GLI is $33,940.
