What are Angle Bisectors? | Geometry, Angles

What are angle bisectors? An angle bisector is a line, line segment, or ray that bisects an angle, as in - it cuts it in half into two smaller congruent angles. We'll talk more about all of this in today's lesson! Let uvw be an angle, where v of course is the vertex. Let vx be a ray. If angle uvx is congruent to xvw, we say that the ray vx bisects the angle uvw. It vx cuts uvw into two smaller angles of equal measure. For example, if uvw has a measure of 30 degrees, and vx bisects uvw, then uvx and xvw both have measures of 30/2 = 15 degrees! Visuals are much more helpful than text for this topic, so watch the video!
