Snake Conservation: Very Brief Look

Welcome to this very brief video about snake conservation, yes, snake conservation! I was challenged to create a short documentary film with a 6-minute time limit. Let me know how effective you think this short learning format is. Snakes typically don't come to mind when you mention conservation to people but there are hundreds of snake species vulnerable, threatened, and endangered globally. Snakes are integral parts of ecosystems serving as pest control, ecosystem engineers, and filling roles in the food web as both predator and prey. Snakes are keystone species in some ecosystems. Footage and interviews for this short video were obtained from the United States and so species familiar to Americans seemed to dominate people's thoughts and discussion; however, there are snake species throughout the world in need of conservation attention, you can find a long list of many of them here: https://rainforests.mongabay.com/enda... You may recognize some the snakes on this list such as the Burmese Python, Savu Python, some species of Garter Snakes, Rattlesnakes, Racers, and Kukri Snakes to mention just a few.
