MUNI San Francisco F Line Streetcar Historic Tramway

Scenes from San Francisco's Historic F Line Streetcar Tramway. The line uses surface track on Market Street running between Castro & Fisherman's Wharf. The track on Market Street was bypassed by the tunnel below the street when MUNI diverted it's tram routes into it between 1980 & 1982 creating the Muni Metro. When the cable car system was closed for major engineering work between 1982 & 1984, MUNI held the 'Historic Trolley Festival' for the summer of 1983. Intended to be temporary, its popularity saw it held annually for many years after, becoming a full time, 7 day a week service from 1995. The route almost exclusively uses PCC cars which wear liveries of many other closed systems in North America (Toronto being an exception as while it's represented, TTC still operate their system). Overseas cars from Australia, Belgium, England, Italy, Japan and others are in the fleet available for the route, but were not seen in service during my visit.
