However it wasn't hard to pick the most intriguing solution, as we found out there are night trains from Hanoi to Lao Cai which is the train station closest to Sapa. We booked a VIP cabin, which means we have a 2 berth cabin all to ourselves. You can also book a bed in a 4 berth cabin, but those were simply too small for comfort if you ask us. The whole experience was great. Of course it's not easy to get a proper nights sleep, but it's a great way to save both money and time, as the train removes the need to accommodation elsewhere. If you are going to Sapa from Hanoi this is very much recommendable.
