Weaste Cemetery⎜Christmas Blitz and the Hallé Orchestra ⎜

First opened in 1857 Weaste Cemetery spans about 39 acres and is oldest in Salford. Home to Joseph Brotherton the first MP and vegetarian, also the first to be buried here; Mark Addy a Salford hero who saved over 50 people from drowning in the River Irwell; and Sir Charles Hallé creator of the Hallé Orchestra in 1858. Christmas of 1940, four days from the 20th December to the 24th saw bombs landing around Manchester one of which landed in Weaste when they were aiming for the nearby docks. This saw a selection of graves destroyed and others nearby badly damaged, this damage can still be seen today in the area. Music by: https://pixabay.com/users/ambientgard...
