Practical Demonstration of the First Delivered and Estabished Amplifier by OPAL-RT for PHIL Applications in Cooperation with Lucas Nülle Speaker: Marc Woestefeld, PhD Student at Duisburg-Essen University As part of the BMWi-funded project NEXTGRID - New Control and Management Concepts for Power Supply Systems with 100% Renewable Energy, the eES-department of the University of Duisburg-Essen set up the new PHIL-laboratory. This is the first one which uses the new 4-quadrant amplifier (OP8110) as interface between real-time-simulator (OP5707) and the power hardware. Moreover, also the application of Lucas-Nülle laboratory equipment in this configuration and its enhancement for research purposes is a novel application. The NEXTGRID project focuses on the development of innovative grid forming control and operation management concepts, novel protection and control concepts as well as communication structures and their validation and demonstration of the possible potential with regard to system stability by means of a test and demonstration facility with the previous described PHiL system. Wide Area Monitoring and a Dynamic Security Assessment System will be applied to investigate future system operation.
