The Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) has rolled out safety guidelines for Diwali, encouraging citizens to celebrate responsibly. Firecrackers should only be used between 7 PM and 9 PM on Diwali day. Additionally, the rules prohibit firecrackers within a 100-meter radius of schools, hospitals, courts, religious sites, and near parks or gardens. Only eco-friendly "green crackers" are allowed in open spaces, while firecrackers with barium nitrate are strictly banned. The OSPCB also discourages the use of chain firecrackers or any that produce noise above 125 decibels. Children under 10 are restricted from using any sound-producing firecrackers. The board further recommends wearing cotton clothing while handling firecrackers for added safety. Earlier in the day, New Zealand captain Sophie Divine won the toss and opted to bat first. The team was bowled out after putting up 232 runs, with Brooke Halliday leading the scoreboard with an impressive 86 runs. For India, spinner Deepti Sharma was in fine form, taking three key wickets. In reply, the Indian women's team had a shaky start, losing opener Shafali Verma for just 12 runs with the score at 16. Yastika Bhatia and Smriti Mandhana then steadied the innings, putting together a vital 76-run partnership for the second wicket. Bhatia eventually departed after scoring 35. Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, coming in at number four, joined Mandhana in a match-winning 117-run stand for the third wicket, putting India on the path to victory.
