How to tie a 3 way rig for walleye. This is a super effective rig for trolling deep water for walleye. If you want to troll baits down deep, then this is the rig for you. The 3 way rig allows you to fish shallow diving baits down deep near the bottom where big walleye hang out. To tie this walleye rig, all you need is some fluorocarbon leader material, a 3 way swivel, and a floating crankbait. Make sure to only use a floating style crankbait with a small bill. The idea is to keep the bait suspended off the bottom. Start by tying a loop in a section of leader material. I usually do this by tying a figure 8 knot. This loop is used to attach your weight to help get the bait down deep. Make this dropper section about a foot long, and attach the free end to the 3 way swivel.
