Yasunori Mitsuda is in my top 3 of all time favorite VGM composers. His compositions have so much heart and soul in them and really show how music can pull you closer to the story and feel more of what the characters are going through. This cover was particularly challenging for me as a cello student of only a year and a half. I had to learn how to shift through positions I was never fully taught until a week before recording the one and got to a point of wanting to scrap the song for the moment as I had the hardest time getting the shifts to lock into proper intonation. It is what makes the cello and any unfretted string instrument so much more challenging. The other madness was the weird syncopated rhythms on the guitar. As you can see I decided to go through with it anyway and take some extra time to work on the hardest parts, filling in some of my gaps and learning new tricks that will for sure come in handy later.
