Simulation of Sour-Water Stripping in Aspen HYSYS | Damping Factor Importance | Lecture # 25

Learn to simulate sour-water stripping in Aspen HYSYS. The sour-water produced from a crude tower is heated and then purified in the stripper to obtain off-gas and pure water streams. Damping factor plays a vital role in the convergence of the simulation. Please do watch, like, and share the video, and subscribe the channel. Problem Statement: A sour water stream consists of 98.8 wt. % water, 0.5 wt. % ammonia, and 0.7 wt.% H2S is produced from a crude tower. The stream is at 37.78 °C, 2.758 bar, and at a flowrate of 1000 kg/h. The stream is heated to 100 °C, 2.069 bar and then fed to the stripper. The requirement is to produce a pure water stream with a maximum of 0.00005 mole% ammonia, while recovering 99% water. The stripper has 8 stages, with feed entering at 3rd stage. The condenser pressure is 1.979 bar, and reboiler pressure is 2.255 bar. #Sourwater_Stripping #Damping_Factor #AspenHYSYS
